Changelog and creditations
« on: November 24, 2010, 12:40:57 AM »
Hi, I'm just looking at OpenShot that I packaged from an outside srpm for PCLinuxOS two yrs ago, and the changelog information I made for the first package (and the later update) has been removed.

Do we only keep 2-3 latest changelog information entries?

I guess there is some proud in having built a package for the first time for PCLinuxOS, I can only recommend to keep the changelog info unless they are intentionally removed (then why?). I can tell all this because I still have the original spec for OpenShot where I made the two first entries (and did put some work into it :-) and just compared them to make sure,

cheers,
MBantz

Changelogs are trimmed from time to time as they just keep getting larger and larger and take up precious space on the livecd that can be better utilized for actual programs. Sorry if you got offended. When we did that rebase back in 2007 and stripped the old changelogs it saved about 15mb of space on the livecd. While that doesn't sound like a lot in the overall scheme of things,  it makes a difference when you are dealing with a finite size of 700mb.

Speaking of changelogs can everyone please make a complete changelog.

Here is an example:

* Mon Nov 22 2010 Texstar <texstar at gmail.com> 4.5.3-2pclos2010
- rebuild for new xz
