Installed PCLinuxOS 2010.10 on a Toshiba Satellite recently.  I was running PCLOS 2007 on it without issues for a looong time.  Everything is working great, except one problem (a pretty big one).  The screen goes to black after several minutes.  This is while I'm working on the machine.  So, I don't think it is a time out happening causing the screen to blank or power management kicking in. It is also running on AC power.  Once the screen goes black I can't bring it back (errmm).  I can't ctrl-alt-backspace to kill X either.  Nor can I get to the tty text terminals (ctrl-alt-1, 2, etc).  The only thing I can do is tap the power button.  Once I do, the screen comes back and shows the PCLOS Bull as it shut down the system.

Tried running both the Vendor and Xorg driver for Intel 810 and later.

Any tips?

Thanks.

I had a similar problem with some Dells during the earlier 2010 releases and 2009.  I solved it by selecting Intel810 Only! NOT Intel 810 and later.  810 Only!.  This fixed my issue on several Dell and HP Intel systems in the past.  It seems to no longer be an issue on the Dells with this 2010 release.

Good Luck

Switching to the 810 only driver did not correct the blank screen for me at all.  My solution was to get rid of the DELL piece of junk and build my own system.

Have you tried pressing ctr+alt+del twice? I expect you have - if it were me I'd be pressing the keys repeatedly - but I just wanted to check.
