Hi all, does anybody know how to download my pictures from my tocco lite mobile phone to my pc please? In windo$e I used the accompanying software - do you think there's any mileage in shoving the samsung installation cd into the drive? I assume all the drivers etc will be windo$e-based. When I plug the phone in, the usb connection charges it nicely, and - here's the good bit - the pc sometimes sees the phone, sometimes doesn't. I managed to get the folder containing the photos on my pc screen, but could neither drag and drop nor copy and paste. In addition, I wondered if anyone has experience of debranding a tocco lite, and if you could recommend software? Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks. Nog.

In synaptic there is wammu/gammu
this is software to communicate with cellphones.

I don't know if it will work with your phone but may be worth a try.

I have posted a request for Bitpim to be added to the repo but as of this time it
hasn't been added .

Hope this helps

Webt,

I've yet to see a recent phone that doesn't have the ability to move your photos (and sometimes, other files) onto a sim card. Do that, and read the files from a microSD card reader onto your computer, simply by placing the sim card into the reader and plugging the reader into a USB port. Not as easy as a direct connection, but easy enough to get the job done and move on to other tasks at hand.

Thanks to both of you for replying. Have installed gammu, it recognises and connects with the tocco lite, but apparently the phone itself doesn't support transferring data! (It did under windo$e). Wondering about installing the samsung disc and running it via wine??? May have to buy a microSD card and reader. Wanted to buy a bluetooth dongle as well; however when installing gnome-bluetooth, it threw up an error -

"gnome-bluetooth-2.32.0-1pclos2010
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.35: line 8: /usr/bin/glib-compile-schemas: No such file or directory
error: %post(gnome-bluetooth-2.32.0-1pclos2010.i586) scriptlet failed, exit status 127"

I realise this is off topic, and await advice whether to start a new topic. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Webt,

Check this out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134990

I'm not real sure where you are at, but something similar should be available in your area.

Thanks, I saw this adapter on the net, quite cheap over here in UK, but I have read some horror stories about them (a) not working at all and (b) locking up phones! Not sure if I want to risk it...

I swap the microSC cards in and out of my phones all the time. But then, I'm also on a CDMA network that doesn't require a sim card for the phone to work (the way I understand it, GSM networks do ... and that's what's available in Europe).
