Remastering E17
« on: November 17, 2010, 08:38:20 PM »
How does one use mylivecd with E17. Synaptic in E17 does not list draklive-install whereas mylivecd insists that it be installed before running.

Am I missing something, I want to install my Vmware Workstation 7 software but like to have a valid escape route in case the install turns pear shaped.

You have to install draklive-install from Synaptic. draklive-install is removed after installation to your computer. mylivecd instructs you to install it if you try to run it to remaster.  Did you press reload to get a current file listing the first time you started Synaptic?

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Thanks for that info but I had already tried the reload Synaptic route but draklive-install did not appear in the program list which is why I asked the question. However it did cause me to rethink and perhaps I have the repository situation wrong, I thought all repositories were the same. I have been updating this Enlightenment system daily for about 10 days now, (after the repository speed test to set the repository), and after applying all the nominated updates the draklive-install process was still not in the list of packages. I have just changed the repository a couple of times, reloaded and after the second change the draklive-install process appeared, I installed it together with some listed updates and have successfully created my own livedvd which seems to work like a charm on my Toshiba with the exception that there is no Install icon on the desktop. I'll check the forum and see what I can find out about starting the install.

I'd appreciate a quick rundown on the Repository situation from one of our 'learned members' if that's possible.

Thanks

Ray

I always have a copy of the icon on my documents-partition (to use when remastering - putting it on my desktop)...

However you find it back in the menu:
PCMenu >> More applications >> Configuration >> Install PCLinuxOS (maybe you can put that one on the desktop)

Another possibility:
Open a terminal, type:
Code: [Select]
draklive-install                      <enter>(you can press <tab> from when you typed (without quotes) "drakli")

Thanks Ruben, found it in Applications > More Applications > Configuration - it's a remaster of my Enlightenment system, must have had my eyes shut when I looked last time.

No, not at all;
if you're looking for something, you won't find it  >:(  ;D
Better let it find by the system..... (or by your wife / mother / sister / girl friend / ......)
