*edit* Cleaned up my posts as they were a whole bunch of guessing and didn't really add anything.

cdrkit solved the issue perfectly. :)

Hi,

In Openbox Bonsai, that was at that moment about the Mini RC5 to RC7 or so, I added a bunch of packages due to Jeff's Nikon digital camera not seen. Among theses, some are packages meant to make some usb pcmcia seen, others I don't remember too much.. one is flphoto.

I don't have time now to search in the thread, but maybe this information can help you search for what you need ?

Hi,

Try installing udisks. I don't know how this program is started, so reboot and retry. At the moment, this is the most simple test I can suggest you to do. Otherwise I looked at a list given by the command line "apt-cache search nautilus" in case I could see one or several packages or plugins likely to help see your camera in the file manager, but I'm not sure which ones to suggest you. You could take a look too, and see what they describe, and decide on your own which ones to try.

When you launch "lsusb" as root with the camera plugged in and set to on, does lsusb see it ? And is the battery of the camera full enough ?

Why don't you replace the new version rules with the old version rules and see?

Hi Dragynn,

udisks is said here and there to be the future (would be the replacement to hal). I suggest you give it a try. If that does not improve, it won't harm.

Okay Melodie, thanks for chiming in here to help, i'll try it, if it doesn't, I have a re-master of 2010.07 that I did where everything works and I can re-install that. :)

If it does not do it, do come back : I have more ideas after that. But there are going to be a few more packages to install at same time  - about 5 or 6 if I remember what I looked. So before using an older version, without knowing why it works and not the newer, what about trying a bit further ?

I noticed from Texstar's Identi.Ca feed that there were some bugs in some new Gnome packages.

That is very much possible.
