Banshee workaround
« on: November 15, 2010, 07:57:55 PM »
I had an issue launching Banshee - app would flash up on screen and then immediately disappear.
While searching for a solution I came across this>

Quote
The recent banshee upgrade causes banshee to crash upon start. According to this bug report a patch was committed but the Arch package still seems affected.
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=620461
As suggested running it with this workaround it does not crash.

(run in a terminal)
Code: [Select]
XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 banshee-1
This also appears to fix a similar issue with PCLinuxOS 2010.10 pae kernel, KDE 4.5.3  (fully updated)
I also edited the menu entry for PCC> Sound> Banshee>  Command>   XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 banshee-1

Chow,
Graeme
