New XFCE Mini
« on: November 11, 2010, 06:03:53 AM »
I just installed the new mini as the sole OS on my main PC.

I was running LXDE on it and on my laptop. I backed up my home folder to my thumb drive. I ran the installation from the live CD. From my thumb drive I copied my Claws, .midori, and a few other folders. When I opened the apps, everything was already set up and ready.

That was sweet.

Claws downloaded the e-mails, Midori had its bookmarks and everything looked as though I was running this OS for months.

I really appreciate the hard work you have put into this distro. It gives folks like me who just can't seem to get comfortable with the new KDE an excellent alternative.

Now if XFCE would make menu editing easier, I will be in heaven!

XFCE Mini is exactly what what I wanted. I have added a couple of extra apps I like to have like Chromium Browser, gFTP and GTKam. Other than that, the apps already installed are perfect.

Long time since I used Xfce so needing to get used to it again, but what I see so far looks great, and a lot of improvement since I last used it.

I've added Firefox and Gwenview as these are what I'm familiar with, to ease the pain of a new Window Manager.  But might have a play with the defaults and see how I go.
