Color of "moveable icons" in e17 panel
« on: November 08, 2010, 12:10:29 PM »
Having added a few more applications to the icons in the panel i notice that they and all the original ones  appear to be grayed out, even though they function perfectly well. Only the Googleearth icon (added after install) shows its usual blue white colors. I noticed in screenshots that the icons can be colored. Is there any way I can go about coloring them after the fact? It is an e17 lite installation.

The icons are not grayed out, it is the blackwood icon theme.
Use lxappearance (name changed to gtk-appearance with last update) to change the gtk-theme and icon theme to your wish.
You can find more themes in synaptic or on gnome-look.org and xfce-look.org.
The icon theme can be changed using lxcursor or you can switch to the enlightenment themed icon in the settings panel's appearance tab.

Thank you, smurfslover, I needed that. That's why I put moveables in quotation marks. I felt stupid.

Will try your recommendations.

I can't find any settings panel appearance tab. Looked at every tab in there, but nothing said "appearance". Another question: why would there be ONE brightly colored icon in the set?

Sorry i forgot:

lxappearance changes the icons for the applications.
For e17 icons: Menu / Settings / Settings panel
In the panel under appearance you can change the e17 icon theme.

In my settings panel the word "appearance" is nowhere to be found. But I did go to "icon themes" and seem to have switched from Blackwood to nuoeveXT-aero and that colored most of the icons. However, three icons disappeared, their places still visible (and functional), and the Home and Konsole  icon are still gray. Not a very satisfying performance, but I can live with it. I don't need Google Docs anyways. Thanks again for all the help.

Hi ebvt , is quite logical that when you change theme of icons, some icons disappear, that's because that theme does not contain the icon of these applications.
Because there are a few icons to personalize them in ItaskNG ?.
Example:
Look for an icon theme that you like, choose the icon you like for the applications to be used in ItaskNG , keeps those icons in a folder (Icons ITask) at his home, now just right click the mouse and select Edit icon, Icon tab, click in image icon and select icon in the folder you created in your Home, Apply tab.  ;).

The icons you set manually are stored in a .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications. You can also edit the .desktop file to change the icon (and even commands)
If you want to remove the google docs from your itask and menu remove the .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications, they are only local and not in /usr/share/apllications
If you want to add webapps go to the webpage in chromium, click the settings button/tools/Create application shortcutsn you can add them to the desktop (.desktop file in ~/Desktop) or in the menu (.desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications)
AFter adding it to the menu you can also add it to the itask-ng or ibar launchers.
