karthoon,
I own a 1000h, I can tell you that my live remaster of LXDE works great with the E. I have never actually installed anything on the netbook. I've got a stock XP on the HDD.
What you have to do is install the
alsamixergui package from synaptic. Then, once it's installed, start the mixer program - look in the PC menu, in the "sound" group. You might like to also start playing some music file at this point so you'll know which mixer setting is the one you want use...
Now, in the mixer, adjust upwards the third pair of volume sliders from the left (it's labeled "Spe.." on mine). You should now have sound.
Currently the function keys(F10, F11 & F12) that are meant to control the sound level and mute in windows do not respond when using PCLinuxOS.
HTH
Any probs, give me a shout.
