hello and welcome to the forum!

i was doing a search on the forum using the term eeepc 1000h but couldn't find anything related to the soundcard, only to the keyboard

have you verified volume levels on kmix?

click on the speaker icon near the clock on the taskbar, click on mixer button and verify audio on master and pcm

you said you just installed, did you updated the installation? open synaptic, press reload and apply all updates

Thank you for you answer.
I was looking for, but I don't have kmix, I have the LXDE desktop.
Shall I install the complete package, this are ca. 111 MB?

On my netbook HP mini 210 and laptop HP DV3, the sound is very low with KDE.
Adjusted kmix but still no joy.
Then I installed Alsa Mixer, changed volume lever in there, problem solved.

Hello,

Go to the terminal, log in as root.   (su,enter, password, enter)

Type alsaconf and let her run.

Type alsamixer and tab around to each column and set to 9 using the numerical keypad.
Set beep to 3 or 4.
Leave the tab on the master column.

Then your standard panel volume icon should be ready.

Read last issue of PCL magazine, tons of stuff for LXDE.

Cheers,

karthoon,

I own a 1000h, I can tell you that my live remaster of LXDE works great with the E. I have never actually installed anything on the netbook. I've got a stock XP on the HDD.

What you have to do is install the alsamixergui package from synaptic. Then, once it's installed, start the mixer program - look in the PC menu, in the "sound" group. You might like to also start playing some music file at this point so you'll know which mixer setting is the one you want use...

Now, in the mixer, adjust upwards the third pair of volume sliders from the left (it's labeled "Spe.." on mine). You should now have sound.

Currently the function keys(F10, F11 & F12) that are meant to control the sound level and mute in windows do not respond when using PCLinuxOS.

HTH

Any probs, give me a shout.  :)
