+1. Windows / Mac fonts are not used by default not because someone did not liked them. Licensing is the keyword. I am not sure is it legal to copy windows font from windows to linux even if you own windows license.

be sure, it is not legal

have arial, times and comic is almost a gray area and almost every page uses it

Perhaps installing webcore-fonts from synaptic may help, they are true-type fonts. Might have to read the docs to find out how to use them.

legal concerns, license concerns

fonts are something that microsoft likes to pay atention, about win32 codecs, i don't remember if it comes preinstalled or you add it later form synaptic

nonfree repo contains mostly apps like realplayer free and similar stuff so a comparison between copy/paste contents form another os protected by many laws, contracts and details can't be done

that's funny, i was thinking the same about your reply with the win32 and dvd stuff 

still, those fonts remain in a gray(more black for mac) area and i not going to hunt all internet to download that content
