<answered>Some Basic Ram Questions

Background: Main computer is down and am not sure why. I have a backup but need more RAM. No info on model of computer and can't find it on Crucial. Prefer to buy cheap on Ebay just to get this one running better till I fix the main one.

The computer is P4. The memory stick in it has chips on both sides. That is  called double sided, correct? I had 133 memory but chips on only one side that fit but didn't work. That is because only double side will work, correct?

The model number on the memory stick in the computer is KVR 1333X64C3/256
OK the KVR simply means Kingston Value Ram, right? The 133 is the type of Ram and the 64 the size of the chips, correct? So what does the C3 mean? Should I be OK with any general 133 double sided RAM. Looking on Ebay I didn't notice double sided on the ones I checked out. Is there another term I need to look for?

If you can read details on the motherboard, you may be able to use that to google for your mobo, and get a pdf manual.  I did that for mine ages ago, and it should have all the information you need.  Lot's of times using whatever is printed on the chip, ram, board has helped me figure out what the heck I had inhand.  Hope this helps.

Yeppers. Should mean Kingston value ram, PC133 sdram 256 mb stick. Ebay should have some cheap, but I would definitely check the mobo specs and see if it would support some better faster ram. pc133 is waaaaay old school, P3 stuff, your P4 should seriously support better than that. I got 512 mb of DDR400 for 12 bucks shipping and all from E-bay to upgrade an old box I have recently, surely the SDRAM has to be at least that cheap.

It shows pics and diagrams of the different types of ram. You should be able to figure out what you have based on the pics.
