e17 theme selector not working
« on: November 02, 2010, 10:54:23 PM »
Just loaded the E17 version last night and the Theme Selector just doesn't work.  It will not let me change directories or pretty much anything else.  Any thoughts?

Did you install the e17_themes-agust package from the Synaptic Package Manager? Those are the only themes compatible with E-17 at this time.

Odd no themes were listed here in the theme selector on my old e17 install.
Agust theme packages were installed.
After reïnstalling the packages i got my themes back in the list. :)

I came across this as well. I wanted to use an older theme, mainly for the analogue clock.
A bit of a search came up with manually putting the themes in ~/.e/e/theme/ and they then showed up in the personal section of the theme manager.

I did run the file through edje_convert first as described in

http://jeffhoogland.blogspot.com/2010/10/e17-basics-faq.html

I now have my desktop clock but the theme is still too dark for me, added a wallpaper, still not wonderful. The previous E17 had a great 'milky theme' - seems to have vanished (not the same as the more recent'milky')

currently looks as http://imgur.com/wqoly.jpg but subject to change. Getting there slowly LOL.

You might want to check your settings panel and make sure it doesn't look like this:

Also Personal Themes requires you to first select import theme button then point to your locally saved theme.edje file. Of course you can manually copy into the proper folder.

You can change any emodule (Clock , Bars , Calendar etc....)  of a theme to another, look here:

Thanks Texstar & Agust

Got the name of the theme wrong, it is actually A-Simple-Pclos. Had to install the previous e17 in a VM and copied the .edj file., but FWIW it is up and running  http://imgur.com/MxHEO.jpg. Nice analog clock with sweep second hand.

Will look into customizing themes.

Edit: some minutes later - got it, now see how it works

In the theme selector you can choose another theme then click advanced.
Search for the clock module and click the theme you want to use for the clock.
Don't forget to click 'Assign for each module you change.
When you finished choosing out your modules click apply.
