[SOLVED] LXDE - PCMANFM issue
« on: October 30, 2010, 02:25:52 AM »
let's suppose that we have two folders named folder1 and folder1[]
with pcmanfm, when i try to copy folder1 from on location to another one - everything is fine
but when i try to copy folder1[] pcmanfm return an error like this:
: Error stating file '/root/Desktop/folder%5B%5D': No such file or directory - and nothing is copied to the second location
i believe that is a pcmanfm issue since  with dolphin everything works fine
 any idea ?

thx !

[EDIT]
there is a problem with wallpaper too:
when i choose to set new wallpaper (let's say lxde_rain.jpg), at next reboot, the wallpaper is reverted to default one (lxde_blue.jpg)..

Do you actually have brackets in the name? If so, rename it to something like folder1a.

It is good practice to avoid using punctuation symbols in directory (folder) names. The underscore (_) and the period (.) can be used, but other such symbols should be avoided.

The wallpaper issue is an easy fix. Open ~/.config/pcmanfm/ and delete the files there. Do not delete the folder named 'default!' Open /.config/pcmanfm/default/ and delete the main.lxde and pcmanfm.conf files. Do not delete the desktop-items-0.conf file!
Now set your wallpaper and reboot.

Brackets in a directory's name is not a good idea -- even if you can get dolphin to work with them.

I have this problem with PCManFM a lot. I can move files, but I cannot copy them. For instance, if I want to copy something from ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files to ~/Documents, I get the error : Error stating file '~/.wine/drive_c/Program%20Files/MUSHclient/MUSHclient.exe': No such file or directory.

It works perfectly in Thunar, but I prefer PCManFM.

The next build of PCManFM should contain a fix for the copy / paste issue.

Yes, I'm waiting for the next update from the LXDE developers. It has to do with the space in the path that is causing the problem I've heard.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

installed new version of pcmanfm and copy issues is already fixed.
And transparency works again fine. You can load it up, Tex  ;)

Did you check for any regressions?

Works for me from /Eigene_Dateien/Bilder/Kurioses aus dem Forum/bild.04.jpg to ~, and return.

Any other problems can't yet found  ;D

ps.: Need a reboot  ;)

Yes, though a log out / log in is sufficient to get lxpanel transparency working. :) :) ;)
