If it's an solution for the GPU problems you can check it out, with the possibillity to switch back to the original kernel, the original is not removed. So if there is a problem with the new kernel, choose in grub the older one, After boot, in Synaptic, reinstall the older and remove the new one. Did it a few times while testing for new Intel chipsets, SATA and WiFi card support.
