[SOLVED]No sound
« on: October 24, 2010, 04:07:51 PM »
Hi, here I am again. I have been making my way around KDE lately, setting up widgets and customizing my desktop. Now I tried to play some music, and I discovered that I have no sound! My sound card is "ATI Technologies Inc|IXP SB400 AC'97 Audio Controller", and the sound driver is snd_atiixp. I tried to go into the control center under Setup Sound, but not much to do there. I checked the "Use PulseAudio" chechbox, but the next time I go in there this is unchecked again. Also, there is no possibility to test the sound. Tried both music and video files in VLC and Mplayer, and music in Amarok and Juk.

So what do I do next?

Edit: Well, this is strange. I turned off the computer, and when logging out, I suddenly had a logout sound. I had logged out and in again before, with no luck, but suddenly when I plan to pack up for the night the sound is there. So I turn the computer on again, and I can play music! Hooray for that!

Any comments?

No, I did not. And see the edit in my post above. I have not been into Kmix.

Frendly reminder: if it is solved, please mark it as such.  ;)

Thanks.

Of course, I'll do that now. It was late at night and I was on my way to bed tired as **** when it was solved.
