Burning CD-RWs [SOLVED]
« on: October 24, 2010, 02:12:38 AM »
After burning a 1MB file to a CD-RW and forgetting to use multisession, I can no longer use the remaining 699MB nor erase the disc. Is there a way?

Unless erased, the disc will not be recognized by K3b. Can it be erased with some other software to make it re-usable?

What happens when you try to format/erase the disk with K3b?

You have not described the problem .......

You have not described the problem .......

It shows as a blank disc but it has 3 folders from its first burn.

Also, with another CD-RW, on trying to add files and when I click on Burn, K3b pops up a box asking "should it be erased" or "eject".  ???

OK, that is what it shows, but you have not said what happens when you select to erase/format it!  ???

Too late to tell you because I can't remember, it just wouldn't erase/format and I can't repeat the operation because I have successfully erased the CD-RW in question with software from another distro. Thanks for your time.

As for my previous/additional query (#4) "should it be erased" or "eject" I'll post again if I can't figure out why K3b wants to erase before burning, on multisession.

Indeed it should not erase when adding files .....  but I have not used multisession for a long time so do not have current info about the behaviour of K3b in that regard.

regards.

I haven't used multisession for a while now but if memory serves the only way I could get K3b to work properly was if I had saved it as a "Project" and used/opened that "project" again to add more files.
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

Sony Vaio SVE1513A4ESI Laptop, Intel Core i5, 2.6GHz, 6GB RAM, 750GB, 15.6" Intel HD Graphics 4000

Thanks menotu, I'll try that when I get back home.
