New LXDE Mini version?

Okay, trying to patiently await formal announcement.

Anyone know if there will be new quarterly Gnome iso's?

Hi,

There are several isos on the repos and mirrors, KDE and KDE Minime, Lxde and Lxde Mini, and siamer working hard to make a shiny new Zen Mini... as for a new full Gnome, I have not really an idea about it, but probably yes ? (Have you gone to linuxgator.org theses times ?)

Work has been / is being done to provide new ISOs for all of our DEs. If you have an install that has been kept up to date, you already have 2010.10. A reinstall is not necessary. PCLinuxOS is a rolling release. :) The quarterly update ISOs are provided for new users.

Look for an official announcement about the ISOs to be posted. It will be. :)

I'm just saying, I never saw anything about a Mini-version of LXDE before, at least not on the main website....

My old collection of laptops are very excited at the prospect of an LXDE-Mini ;)

Plus I don't have an existing LXDE version installed anywhere, so I don't have 2010.10 all "rolled up" already  ;) :D

LXDE-mini is not new. :) Along with the release of the first LXDE 2010 ISO, there was an LXDE-mini ISO.

Why is LXDE-mini a larger iso than KDE-minime now?

I'm curious about that too, I thought LXDE was a lot more lightweight than KDE? Perhaps that means functioning-lightweight, but just more file-size?

Zen is even smaller, 348 mb....ahhh Zen....the quintessential linux...the Pinnacle of PCLOS..... :)

Hi Dragynn,

Size on iso or on hard drive is not related to lightness on resources. I am currently trying to build a PCLinuxOS Openbox for this quarterly that will be as close as possible to the fatidic size of 700 MB. 698 or 699 would be great ! ^^

So you're saying size doesn't matter, and has no bearing on how well the system performs?

I couldn't agree more ;) ;)

Maybe the new ISOs have not fully synced yet. Maybe you are not seeing a complete ISO. Maybe it would be good to wait for the official announcement? :D

I installed both in Virtualbox and they are working perfectly fine. I believe the LXDE-mini is running a bit faster, though this is just from what I noticed.
