Losing Konquerer
« on: October 20, 2010, 09:35:30 AM »
Is it possible?

I tried removing Konquerer via Synaptic but ended up losing Dolphin as well. I had to re-add the Konq related KDE package then explicitly adding Dolphin as well to get Dolphin back.

I never use Konquerer and it always seems to show up when I least want it. Or is it just too embedded in PCLOS/KDE to do without at this point?

They use at some point the same backend,
but I'm using KDE4 now for some months, and haven't seen konqueror at all (automatically)... ???

Whenever I download a torrent using KTorrent for example a Konq window appears. It happened another time today in another circumstance but I don't remember the details, but that was the straw that led me to try to remove it. I'll make an effort to document each instance and see if I can eliminate each one.

Relatedly Gwenview pops up the same way when I would always prefer Dolphin.

I either can't get rid of it on a safe way

But maybe take a look at KDE System Settings => standard applications
See if there konqueror is never ticked

Try going to configure your desktop -> workspace appearance -> default applications and if konq is there, click on it and change it to dolphin.

There are a bunch of file managers there but Dolphin was at the top and the only one ticked.
