Help on how to install a Citrix client?
« on: October 20, 2010, 04:30:22 AM »
Hi all, my neighbor is a recent convert to PCLinuxOS and needs to use Citrix to access her work.

Now on the Citrix website there are three versions for Linux:

Version 11.100  English German Japanese 2/16/10  2.69MB .tar.gz
x86 client - requires OpenMotif v.2.3.1
Download Version 11.100 English German Japanese 2/16/10 2.63MB .rpm
x86 client - requires OpenMotif v.2.3.1
Download Version 11.100 English German Japanese 4/9/10 2.61MB .deb
x86 client - requires OpenMotif v.2.3.1

I see that OpenMotif is no issue as it's in the repo.

What I need is a "line by line" (i.e. code this then code this then code this) on how to install the client. Starting with opening a terminal and being gentle as I'm not used to it :-)

Any and all help appreciated.

Is there a reason you wouldn't want to do this as a Package Suggest (and make it easily available for everyone)?

Are there licensing concerns?

Thanks.

You could try:
install OpenMotif
as root in a terminal:
rpm -i Version 11.100 English German Japanese 2/16/10 2.63MB .rpm

No guarantee and at your own risk, it could bork your install.

Actually I think that's a great idea.

To get her going I installed Virtual Box and then XP.  Seems the best solution as they need iTunes as well for their phones.

Got it working Rod, message me if you are still around and i'll write the whole thing out, is was actually really easy in the end, I just had to go through the documentation and find out a couple of things first.
