PCLinuxOS (as guests)---OpenGL---VirtualBox 3.2.10?
« on: October 16, 2010, 07:46:59 PM »
I have an issue getting openGL to work with PCLinuxOS in VB. I actually have PCL Gnome with E17 installed with it, PCL Openbox with XFCE installed with it, and PCL Zen. For some reason, the PCL Openbox & XFCE install works fine. The other two will crash and burn if I run glxinfo just to see if openGL is running. They also lock up my host. And of course trying to run any video player with GL output fails. I am using the PUEL version of VB on a Mac host. I did uninstall the OSE versions so I could add the 3.2.10 guest additions just because I want shared folder support etc. If anyone has any ideas it would sure help.

thanks ahead of time.

you can try to compare what video driver is used on the systems that crash against those that do not. Maybe different systems use different drivers by default.
.. 3 things are certain in life : death, taxes and software bloat ..
.. tell me something i don't know, something i can use as i struggle to reason with the world around me ..

all guests use the same "driver" in virtualbox. doesn't matter which Linux guest it is. I don't remember what it's called offhand but, it's something like "virtualboxdriver"

actually it's "vboxvideo", (I looked it up)
