E17 Updated ISO Soon?
« on: October 14, 2010, 09:45:55 AM »
I too have had a bad experience updating a fresh install of PCLE17.  Will there be any updated iso's so some of us can have a fully updated install?

I saw a post where Tex wrote:
Quote
Press F2 at the boot screen and add a 3 to the end of the grub boot line, log into the console as root with your root password then type apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade and apt-get install embryo. Type halt or reboot to restart the system.

I'll try that later.  My fresh install, with no additional packages added, crashed about halfway through the upgrade process using Synaptic.  The repos were updated, too.  E crashed and threw me out of a DE, which killed Synaptic.

Perhaps the command-line upgrade will work better as Tex mentioned above.

The best way to update the original E17 ISO is either from the command line or from another Window Manager. This is due to the libraries on the original ISO were pre-alpha and there have been many API changes to the libraries as they have progressed to beta status. I'm looking forward to a stable release of E17 by the end of the year.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

EFL liraries are beta now, e17 is not even near to alpha according to the developers.
I have a first remaster ready and uploaded but no idea if it's any good, it's my first. :)
