Eee PC 1000HA sound issues on kernel 2.6.33.7

I recently updated the kernel on my eeepc with kernel 2.6.33.7.

The issues I am having is that when ear phones are plugged in there is still sound coming from the external speakers as well as the ear phones.

I rebooted with kernel 2.6.32.11 and the problem went away.

Tried alsaconf in a terminal but this did not fix the problem.

Any ideas?

I must add that this is on a fully updated KDE 2010
