task-multimedia has nothing to do with getting your sound working. That is probably a hardware issue.
Open PCC (on your panel, the icon is a crossed wrench and screwdriver in a blue circle) > click on Hardware > Sound configuration. You can set options here. You may want to try a different driver or enable / disable pulse-audio.
You can use the forum's search function to see if anyone has had a similar problem and if a fix was posted. Try using Intel 82801H as your search term.
If this does not help you, please start a new thread with a title that shows you are having sound problems. This will get attention from those who can help you with sound issues.
