Strange thread title but basically what happened.
I searched for the same problem before I started this thread but couldn't find and answer. If this has been answered , could someone point me to the thread.
Recently, just for fun and the experience, I installed PCLOS and Windows XP on a laptop I had. It was quite easy to do. I loaded Windows first then PCLOS. Doing it that way Grub picked up the Windows install and left me with a nice clean choice at boot up. I have had no problems. It has worked very well.
Very well until Windows decided to kill itself. I almost never used it so I guess it got fed up and committed suicide.
In reality it got corrupted for no apparent reason. (GEE what a surprise). I could have spent time repairing it but it was a new install anyway so I didn't have much to lose by reinstalling. Or so I thought.
I used gparted and reformatted that partition to NTFS. Routine so far.
I shut down and put in the Windows install disk and installed it uneventfully.
I rebooted and it booted straight into Windows. I didn't panic because I knew PCLOS was still there and I used a usb version to check it out. It was there intact so I knew what the problem was.
Obviously grub has to be reconfigured to account for the new windows install.
The problem is I am not sure what I need to add to Grub to make this happen.
Could someone of superior intelligence please help me out and give me the proper lines to add.
I sure would appreciate it. Thank you very much.
