Lost functionality when installing from mylivecd remaster.
« on: October 09, 2010, 06:49:17 AM »
I made a backup of my system 'just as I liked it' before installing fullmonty, and for various reasons wanted to restore my original machine.

When running on the mylivecd backup of my system everything is fine.

When re-installing from that DVD, I get no errors, but the HD install breaks some things.

The video, eventually I can get going again, but the wifi does not work.

I posted under wifi and spent last evening and this morning trying different kernels, various cli commands regarding wireless card fixes etc.

What goes missing when re-installing from a remaster of your own machine?

What files can I copy from the livecd/dvd/stick to my hard drive to fix broken functions?

I will remove my post from the networking section if answered here later.

Maybe other people will be helped by the results here for other problems. For me it is wifi and video. Especially wifi.

Thanks!.

Sounds like the install itself got corrupted .....  maybe a bad read from the DVD when copying files .....  presumably you have done media check and such things to try to determine the cause ......

I would try another install to be honest .....  ensuring that both /home (if separate) and / partitions are formatted during the process.

Good burn, and I formatted during install.

Thanks!
