Lost atheros ar9285 wifi after making livecd. HP DV7-3065dx
« on: October 08, 2010, 07:04:23 PM »
I made a backup of my laptop using mylivecd, and I can run the wifi using the livecd, but I can not get my wireless working once I install it to the hard drive.

I remember having a lot of trouble getting the atheros ar9285 card working when new, and think I had to change the kernel or wait for a new one.

Why did I lose my wifi? It shows ath9k module loaded, I've played with the touch switch, and the killswitch-manager to no avail.

Where do I look to get it going, any conf. files from the livecd to dub into the HD install?
Does the kernel change when making a livecd?

Thanks.

edit: I had also made a liveusb key with fullmonty disk. the wifi works ok on that..help

another edit:
could this post have anything to do with it? Some services are lost in the livecd?

You know the drill  ;D  I am taking nothing for granted in wifi, post the konsole outputs. What is your pc, laptop desktop. What is your wifi addon usb built in, what OS are you running.

Root konsole, put it into code tags for easy reading and check of login

Code: [Select]
uname -a
Code: [Select]
lspci |grep NetworkYou already know what your module is but I would like to see the section here, I think above will give you the card details the driver to search for next

Code: [Select]
lspci -vnnPost the section identified for the network card above, this is very important to me

Code: [Select]
iwconfig
Code: [Select]
ifconfig
Code: [Select]
service -f networkJust on the odd chance it is only shut down.

That will do as starters  as your system has been running before   :)
