Last update started squid, sshd, stopped firewall
« on: October 07, 2010, 06:32:51 AM »
Updated to KDE 4.5.2. Noticed squid and sshd running when checking services and daemons in PCC. Never used them before and they were always off. Shorewall was stopped and unticked despite having it running in all my previous versions of PCLOS.

Thanks for any explanation.

Just updated to KDE4.5.2 also and noticed squid, sshd were also enabled as was resolvconf.
I dont use shorewall, just the firewall built into my router.
In my case disabled squid, sshd and resolvconf with no ill effect.
/etc/resolf.conf is still read at boot time from /etc/sysconfig/network script so I'm still
able to use the network.

Not sure why the services have changed, the KDE shouldn't change init scripts so maybe
some other package in the  latest upgrade changed this.
