don't know, depends on some other things. Alternatively I can provide a temporary solution next week when I will be back at work.

Any progress on this?  The light version seems to me to be the ideal way to try out Full Monty.

Thanks.  I have played a bit with the live dvd and it looks good.  I just don't want to do a new install for fear of repercussions if I mess up my wife's account ::)

submitted kde4-config-fm (FullMonty light) to Tex for testing; once approved it should be available in your package manager sometime soon.

happy to announce that you can now search for and install fullmonty-light in Synaptic, which will give you the FullMonty desktop for any new user added to the system after you have installed fullmonty-light. More info on this light-version and the FM-tools can be found in the original post.
have fun!

Is there any way to get an active user account (mine for instance) to switch over to fm_lite from the KDE default? I don't want to delete and re-create my user just to use it and I don't want to have to use a new user-id from now on.

Suggestions welcome?

no, you have to setup a new user first. Then copy whatever from your old user-account into the new one.

I was thinking that. It does seem something of an oxymoron.

you can now add or test the FullMonty desktop by installing the package kde4-config-fm. Please read the original post of this thread for more info.

kde4-config-fm is mutually exclusive to either kde4-config or kde4-config-legacy. Installing any of the 3 packages will NOT affect any existing user-account but only provide respective defaults for new user-accounts. At any time, you can install any of the 3 kde4-config packages in order to setup further user-accounts with the respective layout.

The packages kde4-config and kde4-config-legacy can NOT be installed on a FullMonty DVD-installation. Here, kde4-config-fm is already installed and can be used to setup user-accounts in either the FullMonty or the default KDE desktop layout.

Please also read the information in the file FullMonty_readme.txt in your Home directory after having setup a new user-account with FullMonty desktop layout.

have fun,

don't know what you want to wait for but starting off with a new FullMonty DVD is definitely the easiest option.
good luck,
