Newbie here.
I started with Linux in June 2011 using the PCLinuxOS KDE. I would keep it updated fairly regularly as I was gradually acquainting myself with it as a dual boot with my XP Pro. Around late November I was distracted and had not booted it up again until Monday. I'm now likely going to do a fresh install, and of the Full Monty, especially now that I know that Touchpad Solution is waiting in the wings. I like this OS, but there were and are a few things that rubbed me raw about it. This touchpad issue was on top of that short list. I had grown pretty tired of not having the tap-feature available. Although I probably should not have, I did take it for granted that the limitation was endemic and could not be altered. Returning to this OS on Monday reminded me of just how bothersome it is to me to not have the tapping feature available.
I'm glad that this issue has been brought to the fore. I am heartily voting for the touchpad adjustment option to be included in the next distribution.
