I have installed skype a while ago and recycled the webcam from a broken windows box.
It shows in the skype device menu and once i test it the LED blinks for a couple of seconds when i press the button. No picture!!!
It does struggle to show up in wxCam and also in XCam.
It causes the screen to dim out for 20 seconds or so and finally produces the best picture i have seen from it as a snapshot. Like a time-out. It does vary a bit if i change some of the settings in administration. It sort of grabs a frame now and again.
Has anyone done an admin evening on this one???
