Hi there
I'm pretty new to PCLinuxOS (or at least, this latest release) but been using Linux for a while now. I've installed PCLinuxOS 2010, KDE 4.5.1 version, a week ago and am trying to get used to its little foibles but there are a couple of things that I've not managed to work through yet so am seeking the views of the forum on it.
Firstly, desktop icons. I've used the 'add to desktop' function to create desktop icons for a few apps, then moved them around to my liking (then did the 'lock widgets' again). But performing seemingly random actions like emptying the recycle bin or saving a text file on the desktop moves them around again. Sometimes a reboot moves them back, sometimes it doesn't.
Secondly, I've placed a spacer between some of the icons on the panel so that the application launcher menu, desktop configuration, synaptic etc icons are all on the left of the spacer then the icons for running or minimized tasks are all on the right. I do that to keep launch icons and running app icons separate. That's fine except that, when I reboot, the desktop pager icon (where you switch between desktop 1 and 2) always moves itself to the right of the spacer where I want it on the left. Same with the calender widget; I want it on the right of the clock widget but it always moves itself on rebooting to the left. These are no biggies, to be honest, but just irritating me right now.
Thirdly, and I don't know if this is linked, if I leave the computer for a while then come back to it the monitor sometimes shows a black screen with an 'out of range' moving around. I guess the computer is sending the monitor some sort of display data that it cannot handle and there appears to be no way out expect to reboot (or at least, not one I've found). Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when this happens but it's occurred about 3 times in the last week.
Sorry for the deluge of questions but I'd appreciate any help you can offer.
Adrian
