ono hardware acceleration with 2010
« on: October 02, 2010, 12:59:40 PM »
hi, i just installed 2010 and before i was using 2007 with all the upgrades. i have a hp laptop with the ATI XPRESS 200m card and i had hardware acceleration in the previous version. i can no longer see a specific driver to use. my application is telling me that it is using mesa and not the ATI drivers.

i downloaded ati catalyst driver installation but it will not install because XFree86 is not found and i can find no packages with XFree86.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Do you have the dkms-fglrx or x11-driver-video-fglrx packages installed?  To properly configure and use the proprietary drivers you need those installed and chosen.

Also please note that official support for some ATI Xpress cards on Linux have been dropped. :-[
