kde4.5.2 and yaWP Accuweather service
« on: October 02, 2010, 05:24:15 AM »
Since updating to kde4.5.2 I had to re-install kde4-conf and consequently had to re-order my desktop. Reason being each time I logged in my desktop (regardless of video driver) crashed although desktop was OK in root and test account. Now desktop re-ordered in my user account I cant set my yaWP location using accuweather weather service [my location] as I had done before because it keeps crashing my desktop although yaWP is ok with BBC met office locations.

Accuweather doesn't like 4.5.2?

Helmut

yawp appears to broken with 4.5.2 so it has been removed from the repo until a working update is available.

I suspect there will be an update to yawp once KDE 4.5.2 is officially announced next week. It is one of the most popular 3rd party plasmoids for KDE.

Did I miss something I thought 4.5.2 was not in the repo yet?

helmut singh did 4.5.2 fix the desktop for you so things stay where you put them?

Hey Tex, could we have the old yawp back plz?, it did work with the bbc met office no probs at all and its still a darn sight prettier than any of the others, maybe lob it into testing til there's a fix?

newbi462, yes they do and it's a whole lot more stable and snappier. Ksnapshot took ages to load on my laptops and kept crashing on all my machines but now it loads in an instant.

Regards.

newbie462, as stated in my first post "I had to re-install kde4-conf and consequently had to re-order my desktop" I guess that did the trick.

Yawp did work for me (before Tex removed it) with the bbc met office but not google or accuweather so I use CWP instead for now. CWP doesn't look as good as yawp but no where near as bad as the others and after a little bit of tweaking you can get it looking good and whats more you can use the yawp icons sets.

Just checked Synaptic to install CWP. I don't have to now as YAWP is back now.
