How do I put up an avatar? (Solved)
« on: October 02, 2010, 04:07:38 PM »
This is probably a stupid question, to those who know the answer, and that appears to be most of the regular posters.....
How do I put an avatar picture of my own up, instead of the presets that are supplied? I see the site refers to adding one's own url, but does this mean I first have to download the image to imageshack or a similar site, or is there a more local, more private way of doing it? My point here is I don't want "Facebook" style exposure.

 ???

It used to be easier but after the recent trouble with spammers you do have to upload the picture to some site that gives you a usable URL. For my avatar I used http://tinypic.com/.

It's the latest variation on a "Davy Crockett" hat - self repairing, puts itself on, and doesn't fall off. (Unless it takes a sizeable chunk of scalp with it!) It's about 6 months old and is our border collie's best friend.
(Border collie is a rescue dog, about 10 year old, but behaves like a 2 year old, providing we keep her supplied with glucosamine every day - she had terrible arthritis when we got her. After seeing its effect on the dog, my wife takes it too now!!!)

I also give my dog glucosamine - he too is beginning to suffer from arthritis, he's 8 yrs now but he often thinks he's a pup.
