LXDE update
« on: October 08, 2010, 01:02:10 PM »
Got the update, have a few problems I found.

1 -- Clicking on configure your desktop and then set wallpaper brings up PCManfm and so does PCManfm.

To change wallpaper right click on desktop, then down at the bottom desktop settings.

2 -- Clicking on the desktop panel then panel settings you used to get second option solid color with opacity which made panel which would actually make that part of the background the panel, all I get is a black strip.

3 -- PCManfm icon used to be much bigger.

So far this is all I've found.

Edit:

In closing an app with conky running 3/4's of the app is still readable on the desktop as it closes, the side where conky resides is clear, the other part of the desktop is not. BUT it works correct if conky is not loaded. Yes tried to change refresh rate, no difference.

Right click on desktop brings up sort files, modification time. This works till a logoff or re-boot and then it skews all my desktop stuff back to a sort by name.

In desktop panels it still shades the panel like something is running, when it's been closed.

2nd EDIT:

Well the transparency issue and my apps closing and seeming to peel off the desktop all seem to point at pcmanfm 0.97 or whatever the latest version is. Was reading all abt it on lxde.org.
Still looking....

Tks all!

Hi,

For PCManFM, you need to use the config file ~/.config/libfm/libfm.conf for certain things, and ~/.config/pcmanfm:/pcmanfm.conf for others.

I suggest this:
you move the .config/pcmanfm directory to .config/pcmanfm-back to keep the config files if you want to look into in later, you restart pcmanfm, then you launch from console: "pcmanfm --desktop-prefs" and you will discover an additionnal configuration window which is not available anymore otherwise.

In console, "pcmanfm --help-all" displays all options.

Maybe an additionnal desktop file could help ?

To create an additional entry in menus, with /usr/share/applications/pcmanfm.desktop file, make a new additional one that you will rename "pcmanfm-prefs.desktop", for instance :
Quote
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Icon=system-file-manager desktop preferences
Name=File Manager desktop preferences

I can't answer the rest, I know mostly Openbox for now. (And therfore PCManFM 2)
