It plays very well (SMPlayer) and has good sound too. Why can't I copy Mediainfo stuff conventionally? Here goes:

General
MPEG-PS 2.11 Gb, 1hr 59min
1 Video Stream: MPEG Video
1 Audio Stream: MPEG Audio
1 Menu stream: DVD Video

Video
2329 Kbps (8000 Kbps), 720*576 (4:3), at 29.970 fps MPEG Video (PAL) (Version 2) (Main@Main) (BVOP)

Audio
160 Kbps, 48 KHz, 2 channels, MPEG Audio (Version 1) (Layer 2)

Being in the US, wouldn't that PAL be a problem for me. In my haste, I did not look for a choice.

Yes, if you want compatibility with all DVD Players ......  as I believe those in the US do not have the capability to play PAL videos (for the most part) -----  from what I have been told.

Most of the DVD Authoring programs (like DVDStyler) will do that conversion for you, but of course it will take more time than not converting.

There are a few other authoring apps in the reporistory ......  for instance  2ManDVD  .....   QDVDAuthor   and others, if you cannot get DVDStyler to operate on your install.

regards.

Settings in DVDStyler correctly?

The wizzard will help to set this things

You know the format is ntsc, so you must set ntsc  ;)
Audioformat is mp2 so set mp2
AspectRatio set to 4:3 then it should work

Oppps i see the mistake

29.970 fps Is not PAL konform, (ich weiß nicht warum nun Avidemux dieses nicht erkennt und es in PAL setzt, mach mal bitte im deutschen Unterforum ein Thraed auf, ich muss erst selber suchen) sorry for this german words, i must see why avidemux makes this the output an error

With avidemux on bottom you see the slider, with the slider you can select a sample, click on a for start, and b for end. Save it, it ask for a re-endcode, click no. That's all, save it as Sample.avi To upload you can use http://www.file-upload.net/
Tip:
On Frame? (Bild) you can see I-frame, P- and B. Set start by I-frame

Leiche, I need a break - I have learned a lot, and will learn more, but I have some commitments I have to follow. Will probably pick this up with a similar sounding title so as not to confuse people. Thanks everybody for your help.Yesterday all I knew was how to insert a DVD into a player under the TV.

The space behind the avide*   worked and I installed A.gtk. It is running but I have no idea what to apply where. When I drop the avi file into Avidemux I can at least now see and hear the movie. I found the following tutorial  http://mulder.dummwiedeutsch.de/etc/adm_wink/avi2dvd.htm   (Sorry, Leiche, not my choice of words!). Can you check if I should proceed that way?

When you drop the movie into Avidemux, do as Leiche instructed ..........  on the top menu select

Auto  -- Optical Disc --  DVD

Then select

File -- Save -- Save Video

Can't sleep last night  ;D

Auto  -- Optical Disc --  DVD

Then select

click on filters in video area on the left side, and change the filter mplayer resize to  480

Next step

File -- Save -- Save Video

Or make a screenshot from video filter manager, and post it.
