external monitor not working
« on: September 20, 2010, 08:24:14 PM »
I have a Toshiba laptop running the most recent PCLOS and the screen became damaged. I hooked a Samsung 17" lcd monitor up to the VGA port and have been using happily for months. Today I tried a 19" Samsung LCD monitor and I get no display. This same monitor works fine on other computers running PCLOS. Its just the laptop.  Thoughts?? I am stumped.  Yes, I have tried multiple VGA cables.

What kind of video card do you have?

Have you tried reconfiguring your graphical server settings using XFdrake to see if that helps?

Configure Your Computer -> Hardware -> Set up the graphical server

Click the 'Monitor' button and see if your model Samsung is listed. Also under 'Resolution' make sure it is set to the correct resolution.

You'll have to logout (best to reboot) for the changes to take effect.

Good luck.
