(SOLVED-Thanks!)How to run mldonkey-gui in LXDE?
« on: September 15, 2010, 08:44:25 PM »
Hello,

Please understand I am new to Linux, thanks.

I want to say thank you to PCLinuxOS staff for this wonderful OS, LXDE saved an old Celeron Laptop and it is running fine, I am very impressed.

This laptop is for my daughter and she wants LimeWire. In the repositories (Synaptic) it shows mldonkey and I installed it as well as mldonkey-gui but I do not see any networks or servers, neither a way to add one. I understand LimeWire uses Gnutella, my question is:

How can I get access to Gnutella from mldonkey-gui?

Please understand that I need detailed descriptions and if possible with the GUI because I am not familiar with the command line, I know I have to study it. Any other useful information is very much appreciated.

Best regards

Aha! A simple question, with a simple answer.  ;D

Search for Frostwire in Synaptic, and install that. Here, we use Frostwire, instead of Limewire. I think you will find it "very familiar" ... if you are accustomed to Limewire.

Frostwire is a Gnutella client.
