Are you sure it's not recognized?  It could actually be working.  Have you tried launching a webcam program (like Cheese) and testing it through that?

Wxcam couldn't find /dev/video0.  Do you have a /dev/video or /dev/video1?

Let's try a couple of things.

Have you tried using the application Skype to see if it recognizes the video?  (You can install it in the repository.)  Also, have you checked if the uvcvideo module is loaded?  Check that with lsmod (though please don't paste the results of lsmod here. ;)  Just look through it).

with lsmod | grep uvcvideo, give no result.
I'll try to activate uvcvideo with modprob uvcvideo, after that I retype lsmod | grep uvcvideo. It gives me like this :
Quote
uvcvideo               47611  0
videodev               29473  1 uvcvideo
v4l1_compat            11201  2 uvcvideo,videodev
usbcore               121303  12 uvcvideo,snd_usb_audio,snd_usb_lib,ndiswrapper,cp210x,usbserial,wacom,usbhid,usb_storage,uhci_hcd,ehci_hcd
so that result tell me that uvcvideo is activated now....
What must I do after that ??
When use modprob uvcvideo, is it still remain activated after booting ?

When you do uvcvideo, it loads some driver that may work for webcams.

When you load it try to use a webcam-related application (like Cheese, Skype, and Kopete).  As for making that survive a reboot you can add it to the /etc/modules (when you open up the file, make sure to have root privilages).

Okay.... I'll try to add to the /etc/modules and reboot.
but... when I used manually, still doesn't recognize my webcam (cheese, wvcam)
so... what's wrong with my webcam on my laptop ??

Is there a means to switch off the camera in that PC?

It may be turned off ... and so not seen by the OS ....

Yes... and definitely is inside the laptop and placed on the top of my laptop screen, so I can't see the switch...
