Epson artisan 810 All in one printer? Driver install Avasys?
« on: September 10, 2010, 07:14:40 AM »
Yes! and hello to all;

Hello! There folks, I was wondering if one of you nice folks could help me with installing the drivers from avasys website for the Artisan 810 all-in-one printer. The drivers in package manager do not seem to be working properly.

The printer connects but just keeps printing pages upon pages of script. I have stop and shut down the printer each time I try to print a test page with the package managers drivers.

Any assistance or suggestion would greatly be appreciated.  How do I download and install none repository packages from the web?  I am kind of new to PcLinuxos and could really use some helpful information.

I am trying to connect my Epson artisan 810 to my printer wireless. I am using a A305-S6905 Toshiba laptop if this information helps.

Thanks and have a nice Day!

I have to tell you that I am not an expert but I can give some guidance based on my (successful) attempt.

I have an Epson although not the one you are using.
Do make sure that the 810 is in the Avasys list, to download that specific model of rpm's.
You must take out the following files from the system :-
/usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so and /usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.la (to avoid 'losing' these files, I add the suffix .bak to keep them available if the new files do not work!)
Also UNinstall  sane-backends-iscan. You can then run the rpm installs - for both Avasys files. The install is with #    rpm -i <iscan package xxxx>.rpm (presumably you know this - just added for completeness!)

Hopefully, your 810 will then work ok.

I must apologize for giving you INCORRECT information vis-a-vis your 810!!

You do not need to make the file changes that I specified (which refer to the Epson 'Scanner') the Artisan 810 has separate and different rpm's and there is only ONE, which will install normally from a terminal as I previously gave.
