I have Adobe Reader version 9.3.4-1 (unknown).  Every time I launch the application, it wipes settings and opens the licensing dialogue.

According to the 'properties' dialogue, I can install a different version using "Package > Force Version".  Unfortunately, there is no such menu selection.

Is there a way of overcoming this problem?  Thanks.  In the meantime, I have removed the application.

That's the best solution. Use any of the other available pdf readers.

Sounds like you have the wrong permissions in your home folder. Delete the .adobe folder in your home directory and let Adobe Reader recreate it.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Thanks.  Recreating the .adobe file seems to have worked.  It has survived a log in.

I am with you.  Adobe reader has become a monster.  Why do you need an installation file of 60MB to read a pdf file?  Unbelievable ...

I've noticed that with each update, it does that one time. In other words, it looks like the settings don't carry over to the newer version.

That's what you get from using proprietary software, you have to take it as it comes or use foss software where you can help out the developers (or ask them for features) by filing bug reports. :)
