Have you checked all your desktops? I recently noticed that if I add an icon by right-clicking and choosing "Add to Desktop" while being on desktop 2 the icon is nevertheless added to desktop 1. A bit annoying, although it doesn't really bother me as I don't use plasmoid icons much.

Hi blackbird

Thank You for reply. I have checked all desktops. I have experienced many things with plasma but never this one.

I'm finding that adding a desktop icon through the main menu, as you describe, that KDE will happily place the new icon in the upper left of the desktop on top of the one already there... and it will keep stacking them on top of one another if you add more.

Not only that but if you add icons this way they won't align to grid even if you check it off to do so. The way I found to align to grid is adding app icons through a right click on desktop and Create New... Link to Application.

I'm not really familiar with plasma/plasmoids as I've only upgrade a couple of weeks ago so I may be missing something everyone already knows. Hope this helps.

This was also like that previously, but now, even if the menu is there I can not place any icon to the desktop from right clicking on a program in the main menu.  ???

Hi

I disabled compiz in "Konfigure desktop" and also in PCC I chose "No 3D". Rebooted, and there, stacked in the upper left corner of the desktop were all the previous icons I tried to put there.

Hi

Now I think things are getting a bit spooky. Although all my previous icons were there when I rebooted I am still not able to place new icons  :o ???

What happens when you drag and drop the icon instead? What kind of activity are you in at the moment?

mappevisning = has a Danish or Scandinavian scent  ;D

I have no idea if the departure from the normal English has anything to do with your problem. You could try and start up the LiveCD and partly configure that to Danish and see how that would behave.

The LiveCD will be far away from your system with just language customisation but it might show if there is an inherent problem.

Do you still run the pclos default schemes or have you customised in that area too?

Have tried all 4 activities and in all of them I am unable to place an icon for a program on the desktop but easily in the panel. Though this feature worked fine a couple of days ago.
