[SOLVED] Wifi adapter not picking up certain connections / ssid
« on: September 06, 2010, 08:27:12 AM »
This is not a question, but rather to help others with the same problem I had.

Problem: Network center; my wifi adapter would only display some of the networks / ssid / wifi connections in my area. Mine was not on the list. Strange thing is, if I unplugged the USB wifi adapter and plugged it back in, it worked. But on next reboot it would not find the saved connection.

Solution: I changed the "wireless regulatory domain" to SG (Singapore, where I live) and it works fine now. This setting can be found in "Network Center->Advanced settings".

Conclussion: In other distros, this probably gets set by the user when they select there region / locale. But PClinuxOS seems to skip this at installation and relies on the user to set it him/herself after installation.
