Hi,

To see what are the resolutions available and the default one, type in console
Code: [Select]
$ xrandr
The one chosen has a '*' in front of it. ie:
Quote
$ xrandr -q
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 800, maximum 4096 x 4096
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS1 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x 207mm
   1280x800       60.0*+
   1024x768       85.0     75.0     70.1     60.0
   832x624        74.6
   800x600        85.1     72.2     75.0     60.3     56.2
   640x480        85.0     72.8     75.0     59.9
   720x400        85.0
   640x400        85.1
   640x350        85.1
TV1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

I quite do not understand what GDM has to do with resolution ? Can you explain to me ?

Thanks,
Mélodie

melodie,
I realised that most probably it is not OB Mini issue.
Nevertheless here we are:
I login choosing session 2. Open Box:

I login choosing session 8. Open Box:

Probably not. But don't forget that here only GDM (as in Openbox full) manages or contributes to manage the desktop.

The antialiasing in the first one is light. That might be the answer, but the resolution is the same. What about not choosing a new session ? How does it come out ?

When I don't choose a session (e.g. using the default "Last session") the resolution to my eyes is 800x600 like in the option 2.
But it's not a real problem, just curious :)

I wonder how the last GDM version is now.  http://ftp.acc.umu.se/pub/gnome/sources/gdm/2.30/ ( gdm-2.30.5)

Hheh! :)
The same situation in LXDE. Here I switch to 2. LXDE or 7. LXDE. And after 7. tweaking lost the pointer image at the login screen though pointer itself works. :D

Impossible, unless you installed one. I didn't put any volume control icon.  (I may have removed lxpanel's though).

Honest, I did not install anything.  I didn't did even check for updates with Synaptic yet.  Also, if I logon as root, it's still there.

Jeff

Could you show me a screenshot ?

Here's a screenshot after I logon as root:

Note the volume icon to the left of the time.   From what I've read, it's an optional feature in LXPanel.

This is not LXPanel volume control as far as I know, but Volumeicon by itself. I didn't think I had installed it ?!  ::)

Do you see it in Synaptic ?

To uncleV : do not install it yet. A new version is coming very soon. I'll all let you know here.

Strange, it's not installed according to Synaptic.  I'll install it just to see what happens.  I look forward to your latest version.

Right. It's probably Lxpanel that is fooling around. The icon set made me think it was Volumeicon, but that really is the original panel volume applet.

The new version is out and ready to try. See here please:

Hi Mélodie,

I'm running the live CD now.  I like the panel at the bottom and can even move it to the top and back to the botton without a problem.  I did have to adjust the top desktop margin down from 23.  Also, I still got the warning about 4 desktops in the .xsession-errors file, but it went away after I logged out and logged back in.  I'll install this to VirtualBox next and give it run.  It looks like you're almost there.  ;D

Hi Jeff,

I still need to figure out for the 4 desktops. I'll reduce to 2 and we will see what goes on at first login in live. The progress is to be credited to Parnote who gave me the idea to externalise scripts additionnally to delay the start for pcmanfm and lxpanel.

You can look at theses scripts in /usr/local/bin and how they are started in /home/guest/.config/openbox/autostart.sh

The move to top and background without pain is due to... if I remember, I removed an applet that was not available.

Best regards,
Mélodie

I look forward to testing _3 when I get home. I attempted to install _2, but the installer crashed either because of not enough hdd space (4gb) or not enough ram (128mb with 4gb flash drive swap). I'm going to put in a 20gb drive and try again.
