Hi Mélodie,

I've got your latest version up and running on the live CD.  So far, the only problem was the background that didn't come up, until I opened the file manager.  I can't believe that I typing this on a 12 year old HP Omnibook.  It's the first time this antique has been usable in years.  Excellent job!  My next step will be to test Openbox Mini on a couple of 6 year old Dell's that I have around here somewhere.  I'll get back to you on any bugs that I find.

Have a couple problems...
No back ground on boot, already been mentioned with install , this is with "live" unless I log out and back in

If I try to move the task bar to the bottom it disappears completely and I can only get it back with a log out (which is how I got a background after none on boot )

Could not connect to the 'net. Get a "Could not install packages (rp-pppoe)!" message when I try.

This is a five year old box with a AMD Geode 1750 NX and 692mb ram
currently running LXDE 2010.7

I didn't even announce the version of September 6th was available. For the background I know, I'm being searching how to fix that, and have the desktop icons at same time. It's not simple, because in the installed version from where I pull the isos, I don't have this problem.

If you can do without desktop icons, take a look into the directory ~/.config/openbox, and try the other "autostart.sh" file : I commented the pcmanfm line and uncommented the line for feh : just switch files and feh will take the background in charge. (This is supposed to work in all cases and at least at home in live usb and virtualbox it does).

task-bar : it's a panel. If it bothers you, you can get rid of it, and install tint2 along with tintwizard to configure it. You won't have a graphical menu, but you can still have all the dynamic pipe menus (thanks to openbox-menu program) in the right clic.

If it sticks after a logout, then it's ok : normal behavior : it usually has to be restarted to take the new configuration.

rp-pppoe : so I should install that in the next version, shouldn't I ?

I just booted the live CD on my Dell's and both work with the hardwired Broadcom interfaces.  Thanks for changing the kernel.  As for other errors, beyond those mentioned by weirdwolf, I have yet to find any.

I do have another suggestion and it's not a big issue.  Both Dell's work hardwired, however, the wireless Intel drivers (firmware) were not included with the live CD.  Would it be possible to add them to your next remake?

What is/or are the packages names ?
How much additional MB is that ?

Last but not least : what about adding them yourself and make a remaster of your's ? You'd name it "Plos-Minibox-Intel-Wireless" ?

I'll try to do a remaster in Virtualbox including them.

tint2 is a taksbar, lxpanel is a panel. tint2 is very good !

There are open source provided by Intel to use.  Being shown as nonfree is correct as they are not GPL'ed.

No problem, I'll just add them later.  By the way, I did find another bug.  When I click on Root Terminal in the menu, I get prompted for the root password and nothing happens after that.

So do I. Here is the fix:
go to /usr/share/applications. Open the file gksu.desktop. Go down to the line that startx with "Exec=" and replace "gksu /usr/bin/xvt" by "gksu /usr/bin/sakura", or any terminal you like and are about to install. Or don't edit it and install urxvt-unicode, or xterm : that might be launched by the command of the /usr/share/applications/gksu.desktop file.

In my usual install that started xterm. xterm is not installed in the Openbox Mini, so I uninstalled it in my usual install and then nothing happened when starting it from the menu either. Therefore I went to the desktop files directory (the one I just told you) and did a grep in it to see where what that "Root Terminal". :

and puf ! I found it.

I'll replace it with "sakura" in the next version, or maybe will look for a more elegant way. I'll see.

Now : rc-pppoe is installed, and the background is still black at first when starting it from a usb stick. I looked into the file .xsession-errors that is in the /home/guest directory, and it shows that "/usr/bin/pcmanfm -d &" has "segmentation error". (twice because in that one version I had put it twice with a "sleep 1" in between, in the autostart.sh file).

If a fix can't be found I'll give up the desktop icons, lxpanel, and will install tint2, tintwizard and let feh take care of the background. At least feh doesn't crash at login.

They're already in the repositories, under the nonfree section.  Note that they're the same drivers included in the current KDE4 ISO.  I just added them and other wireless drivers to my Openbox Mini remake and they work fine.  However, adding them does increase the ISO size by several megs.  At present, I'm using an Intel 2200BG wireless adaptor.

They're already in the repositories, under the nonfree section .... However, adding them does increase the ISO size by several megs.

Therefore if I understand the situation, theses are free drivers under GPL, that are actually seen as nonfree by the package manager ? That is too bad.

To get it almost as light as before, you may want to clean the cache, then clean the /usr/share/doc directory (all but HTML subdirectory), get rid of locales in /usr/share/locales : not the english ones, not the first list with encodings, and not the last file locale.alias. You can erase all the rest from "be" to "zh_TW" unless you need one of theses languages. You can go to /var/tmp see if there are leftovers. You can get rid of more files yet, such as /root/.synaptic/logs : all the logs in there (I keep them for information purpose, incase of need, but not all need them). You can get rid of all files under /var/log except one : prcsys.log, otherwise at next reboot the system will yell at you. You can do that with mc as root, for instance.

Then more files to check : in the /home/guest : erase the content of .bash_history, .xession-errors (after reading it for information if you want). I let you figure out the rest.

You can get it more easily with Bleachbit, but this will pull in several gnome packages. I do that at times, and remove them all after. (I keep an eye on the history = logs - in Synaptic, to be sure I don't forget one.
