You were not saying that it doesn't work anymore, but that it won't be installed. The message when I tried also states that the repos can be in an unconsistant state at the moment.

What about retrying in a few hours ?

I'll retry later.  I did a full update in synaptic this morning and didn't pay any attention to what was being changed.  flphoto was deleted entirely and I could not reinstall it. The same thing happened with alsamixergui, which I also had installed previously.

Edit:  I replaced flphoto with GTKam and have access to my Nikon Coolpix S60 again.

Yes, install alsa-utils and configure your sound.

PS: if you install volumeicon, uncomment it's line in .config/openbox/autostart.sh, reload the session, then you will have volumeicon instead of the lxpanel plugin. Then, if you install gnome-alsamixer, you can change the command which is in the preferences of Volumeicon : the default is «xterm -e 'alsamixer'», you can replace it with just «gnome-alsamixer», it will start... gnome-alsamixer instead of alsamixer in a console.
