Hi Jeff !

Thanks.

OK,

I just installed and all is running fine on a Dell Inspiron 600m.  FYI, I won't be around much today.  My son and I are going to a football game this afternoon.

Got an older box from the cupboard ;)

AthlonXP 2400 processor
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro video
Via chipset AC97 audio
1G memory
IDE HDD 80G (already partitioned for PCLos)
prepaired UNetbootin USB with Bonsai 2010.11.13
Banzai

Installed and working PC in 10 minutes  8)
One: keyboard predefined for French? (like Melodie)

From Synaptic (predefined for my fastest repo freebsd), full update, firefox, task-multimedia and gecko-mediaplayer.
Total 170 packages, and working, total time 30 minutes.

What, no sound ? installing alsaconf and gnome-alsamixer.
In root terminal alsaconf, checking sound in Firefox stream OK.
Install printerdrake for printersupport.
Run addlocale (Localization Manager) to get the most programs and desktop in Dutch.
Run getopenoffice (OpenOffice Manager) for the complete Office package in Dutch.
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/dictionary/ to install the Dutch (NL) dictionary.

Total time 1 hour for a complete fast system.
Hats off and applause for Melodie, Pinoc, Texstar and all the other hard working people who made our PCLos Hero no.1

And now for the next less powered dusty PC box.

I installed bonsai .13. I agree that it is ready to go. Congratulation on a very good job!

DeBaas: I have sound, but no volume control or visible mixer. I just add volumeicon and gmixer for a very light sound control.

After all of the testing with 128mb ram, I'll probably steal 128mb from another computer.  ;)

Hello !

Happy to see it works for you three. About volumeicon it's installed, you just have to uncomment the line for it in your home .config/openbox/autostart.sh file to get it on the panel as soon as logged in ( the autostart.sh file contains lots of comments to explain this and that... in English and French languages).

/ I mistake, it's not installed but the config to start it is in the autostart.sh... (?!)

DeBaas: it's only the first keyboard setting prompt that is default to French, from there you choose the one that fits you. I was just fed up from searching the keys on my keyboard, so I did a "loadkeys fr" in the tty before launching "mylivecd", to feel comfortable.

I would like to know if adding unionfs-tools will make the boot to Just19's machine go to the end, while having that corrupted partition in the hard drive, or if it won't.

Just19 : in case it does not when you will try, it would be nice if you would also try with safe boot. (So that we know if from there it is possible to do the fs check on a corrupted partition... of course).

Best regards to all,
Mélodie

I downloaded the ISO but have not had a chance to try it yet.

Will let you know when I get to it  ;)

It is installed.  All you need to do is add the following lines to /home/~user/.config/lxpanel/default/panels/panel:

Plugin {
     type=volumealsa
}

By the way, after you logoff and log back on, you can use the Panel settings in LXPanel to move the volume control icon to anywhere you want on the panel.

No this one is the default Lxpanel plugin.

volumeicon is different, it's a program that you get from a package. And you can configure it the way I suggested. :)

When you make use of it, it can start alsamixer from a small console. You can set it up in at least 2 different ways (I usually select it to show a cursor to raise and lower the sound). You can make use of several diffent themes for it, from within the preferences as well.

This must be for the plugin.

I see, thanks.  However, I still prefer the LXPanel plugin. :)

Actually, it's not black, it's a white speaker with blue sound waves.

Jeff

Edit:  If recall correctly, it changed the last time you changed the icon theme.
