Hi loukingir,

You setup really gorgeous themes. Would you setup and make a full theme for Openbox Base that could be spread ?

smiles...thanks, I would consider it sure. I mostly do dark themes and mostly what I do is find pre-done themes and icons and tweak them if I have to, and make my own wallpapers. if you think that would be helpful, sure.

Which is basically what we do here with the community remasters, don't we ? ^^

I think that could be helpful. and  what about a contest at Art and themes requests ? :D

smiles... I suppose it is what you do. I don't know if you went to my screenshot gallery or just saw the screenshots I have posted on the PCLinuxOS forum, but if you had some favorite/s I can see what I can do.

Hi Mélodie,

OpenBox Base is up and running on the HP.   Everything looks great, as expected.  I'll be installing a few of my favorites and get back to you after further testing.

I am running openbox base in virtualbox on a mac host btw. I am having an issue. whenever I start the guest, I have to go to Network Center, disconnect then reconnect to get online.

Jeff gave a solution that might be applied here : go to PCC > System > Services and there untick resolvconf so that it does not start at boot and stop it.

that fixed it thanks. now I have a dumb question. I have the regular OpenBox installed as well, along with the E-17 and Zen-mini flavors. I haven't looked yet, but why would Openbox mini either be the only one with the issue or the only one where it was enabled?

If I told you that it might be because it's still in a testing stage, would that satisfy you ? Else I renamed it to Openbox Base, because "Mini" does not suit a version that is not providing non free drivers and firmwares, whereas all the other PCLinuxOS Mini versions do. This is an "almost core" : more easy to start from than etjr's cli.iso, as you can see from the 47 pages started beginning September, and from the birthday of the first version announced at mypclinuxos.com/forum:
pclinuxos-openbox-mini 2010-7_04 : on top of cli.iso

That was in July, and a few others had been pulled out of the cli.iso before I found out what was missing to be able to finish the reboot after install with all that is expected... choice for keyboard, invite to create the root password and new user's account...

So now it's a core, with minimum packages required so that it looks like a good start. I noticed that for now it's only 91 MB bigger than the original cli.iso where it has been pulled from.

Next version : will have a new PCManFM, which is in testing for now, new libfm and libfm-gtk, new Obconf and resolvconf will be deactivated. :)
Thank you very much for your feedback on this issue. I still don't know if it can still be needed for some people with the kernels we have so I will leave it in the system.

Regards,
Mélodie

Mélodie and loukingjr,

Another solution to fix the network problem is to turn off speedboot, you can then leave reslovconf running.  I just had to do that on the old HP.  It just can't handle speedboot.  Also, I don't have sound.  That's the first time that has happened.  I'll install alsa and see if that will fix it.

For the sound have you checked in system services if I didn't disable something there from  being started at boot  to make the live cd boot faster ?

For speedboot, I'll suggest to leave it on "auto", as otherwise it seems to bring a problem about hanging at shutdown in certain circumstances. Well, maybe Just19 will come and test this version too, so that we can know if speedboot on "auto" fixes it. :)

Here a live usb done on ext3 with his script did very well last night. Shutdown and reboot with persistant and non persistant mode started immediatly after selecting the command in the menu.

I just checked and alsa was turned off.  I can't believe I missed that earlier! :o

Good to know that it's working for you.  I'll leave speedboot on auto, when I install OpenBox Base to the Dell 600m later today.

Seeing your reaction, I'll turn it back on for the next version.
Thanks. :)
