How to get forum topics/boards as RSS feeds

How I got my Package Request feed was to copy the Software Announcements address:

http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/board,66.0.html?type=rss;action=.xml

and changed it to

http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/board,62.0.html?type=rss;action=.xml

Edit - this is in Kontact/Akregator

Hi,

One question, are you logged into the PCL forums when you
receive that feed ?    My computer receives that feed when I am
logged in an doesn't when I'm not logged in.

This is very frustrating for me. I can get feeds from several of the boards except the Package Suggest ... neither in Kontact/Akregator nor in (standalone) Akregator. ;(

Has anyone been able to get these specific feeds in Google Reader?  Whatever link I use there, I get a general forums feed which seems to omit the boards that interest me.

I don't know if it matters which Kontact version is being used Archie - I'm using 4.6.0 (with KDE 4.6.5)

Different forum "boards" (sections) can have different board numbers associated with them Duvid.  They can be seen in the url address.

For instance, the Tips & Tricks board is number 23 - see below

whereas the LXDE one is 76

Not sure whether it would have any benefit - in this regard -  moving upto 4.6.0 (which is in the unstable repo section)

I have found it extremely stable and it even migrated all my mails and stuff over correctly.

I also use KJots quite a lot and 4.6 added the ability to sort Book/pages by name or Book/pages by creation date which I find very useful indeed.

Has anyone tried to make a feed of the Package Suggest section. It's the one that I can't seem to get. I have General News and Announcements, Software Announcements, etc. but I always error with:

Perhaps one has to be logged in and that section isn't available as a general RSS feed.

I put the URI into Firefox ......  and it applied it to Akregator ......  ....  Akregator opened automatically with the feed showing as "Imported"....

1.   If not logged in to the forum the feed does not update ...  in fact I get a red 'X' on the feed line

2.  If logged in all is OK in Akregator.

Seems to be a setting of the forum ....

Are you permanently logged in?  Would this affect it?

EDIT .........  yep that does affect it.

I can close the browser but will remain logged in and Akregator updates fine.

If I deliberately log out ....  browser open or closed .....  Akregator fails to update the feed.

It needs the user to be logged in.

package suggest is not available to guests. It is only available to forum members.
