Yea, uncle might be right. I might need to dust off a cd. I thank you for your help, but I think something went a little wrong with the upgrade. (And yes, I tried to reinstall all things mentioned)

I don't like giving up, but sometimes things happen. Anything too deep in the system and I am at a loss.
Due to my user level I think I am just going to backup and give a fresh install a try.

So uhhh, I installed again and had the same problem.

Good thing we have LongTom. Installing the shared-mime-info package did the trick.
